Technological advancements have made indoor positioning systems (IPS) increasingly essential, prompting the adoption of innovative techniques and algorithms. IPS has seen widespread application in commercial and industrial settings, such as equipment tracking and object identification, due to its enhanced accuracy. However, its use in autonomous vehicles, particularly Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), remains limited. Positioning is critical for AGV operation, and although there are various methods available, such as IMUs, encoders, ultrasound, and LiDAR, these local positioning methods suffer from the inability to recover from positioning errors without human intervention. This paper presents an overview of an IPS solution for AGVs using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology.
